Capitowl for iPhone

How Capitowl works on iPhone: portrait layout, moving between tabs, the plus and gear buttons, and where to find help.

Capitowl on iPhone is built for one hand, in portrait. This page covers the parts that are specific to the iPhone. For the bigger screens, see Using Capitowl on iPad and Using Capitowl on Mac.

Layout and orientation

Capitowl on iPhone runs in portrait only. Turning your phone sideways does not rotate the app.

The iPhone always uses the single-column layout. There is no sidebar here: the sidebar only appears in windows at least 600 points wide, which no iPhone has.

Moving between tabs

The tabs are Investments, Accounts, Transactions, Home, Recurrings, Budgets, Goals, Payments and Assistant. Swipe sideways to move to the next tab. A tab strip at the top shows where you are and lets you tap straight to another tab.

The strip appears when you change tab and tucks itself away again after a moment, so it stays out of the way while you read.

The plus and gear buttons

Most tabs carry a floating button group:

  • Plus adds something to that tab, for example a transaction on Transactions.

  • Gear opens that tab's own menu.

  • Transactions shows a question-mark button instead of the gear.

Home and Assistant have no floating buttons.

Keyboard shortcuts

The tab-switching shortcuts (⌘1 to ⌘9) need the sidebar, so they do not work on iPhone, even with a hardware keyboard attached. They work on iPad and Mac.
