Capitowl on iPad uses the extra room: a sidebar instead of a tab strip, wider layouts, and keyboard shortcuts if you use a hardware keyboard.
Sidebar or tab strip
When Capitowl's window is at least 600 points wide, a sidebar appears on the left and lists every tab. In a narrower window, such as a slim Split View pane, Capitowl falls back to the iPhone-style layout with the tab strip at the top.
The sidebar replaces the tab strip, so you will not see both at once.
Resizing, Split View and rotation
Capitowl decides its layout from the width of its own window, not from the device you hold. Resize the window, open Split View or use Stage Manager, and the layout follows.
Under 600 points: the compact layout, no sidebar.
600 points and up: the sidebar, with the screens in a readable column.
1000 points and up: the wide layouts, which place more on screen side by side on Investments, Accounts and Recurrings.
Capitowl on iPad works in every orientation, including upside down.
Keyboard shortcuts
With a hardware keyboard, press ⌘ 1 to ⌘ 9 to jump to a tab. ⌘1 is the top row of the sidebar and ⌘9 is the ninth.
Hold ⌘ to see the full list. Each shortcut is labelled with its tab's name.
The rows run in this order:
⌘1 Investments
⌘2 Accounts
⌘3 Transactions
⌘4 Home
⌘5 Recurrings
⌘6 Budgets
⌘7 Goals
⌘8 Payments
⌘9 Assistant
The shortcuts work even while you are typing in a field. They pause while a sheet or pop-up is open, while the sidebar is hidden (narrow windows), and while Capitowl is not the front window.
Large windows
In a window 1100 points wide or more, Transactions shows a table view and more keyboard shortcuts become available.
Transactions
⌘ F: Find (jumps to search)
↑ and ↓: move through the rows
⇧ ↑ and ⇧ ↓: extend the selection
Return or Space: open the highlighted transaction
⎋ (Esc): clear the selection
⌘ A: Select All
Assistant
⌘ K: New Chat
⌘ Return: Send Message
↑: Edit Last Message (with an empty message box)
